We are happy to announce the general availability of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central for the 1st country on the African continent! Today, 1 August 2018 sees the launch of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in South Africa.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in South Africa:
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a new business application launched by Microsoft. The exciting thing about this new business application is that, although its considered to be a new solution, it’s a new suite of business productivity applications built on tried and tested technologies. As such immediately at launch, customers will be able leverage the benefit from a partner community supporting the solution with decades of experience working on the business application platform.
See Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central shares its code base, lets call it its DNA, with a Microsoft business application used by millions of users across the globe on a daily basis; and supported by experienced partners…partners experienced in Microsoft Dynamics NAV (formally called Navision). Dynamics 365 Business Central is the next evolution of Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The evolution of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV solution into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central can be seen below:
The question might be asked then, if its just a new release of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, why all the excitement and hype around the launch of the solution both here in South Africa and across the globe (Hold on rest of Africa, the solution will be available for you soon as well) Well because its Microsoft Dynamics NAV and so much more!!! Add to that the infusion of Microsoft’s Artificial Intelligence engine; the seamless interoperability with Microsoft Outlook; Flow and PowerApps and PowerBI; the security of Microsoft’s Azure platform. This is a technology solution with no equal in its class!
What is available in South Africa on 1 August 2018?
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will launch in South Africa as a full Software as a Service (SaaS) thus cloud based business application delivering a suite of business productivity solutions to its customers. Key solution areas include:
- Financial Management
- Sales and Service Management
- Project Management
- Supply Chain Management
- Operations Management
- Reporting and Analytics
Typically solutions that carry similar features are deployed in a server room at a customer’s head office, or at a server in a private data centre. Business Central however is launched as a full SaaS solution in South Africa. No more server maintenance; no more database installations; no more manual backup maintenance. Everything is automatically provisioned in Microsoft’s tried and tested Azure Cloud.
Now at this point we need to mention the South African Azure Data Region: It was announced earlier this year that South Africa will be getting not one, but two Azure Data regions in 2018. This is still on track and very soon the data residing on your instance of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will be hosted in one of these South African Data regions. Some of you might ask why I refer to it as a data region and not a data centre. Simple answer really…an Azure Data Region is a combination of Data Centres, yes, a Data region will contain multiple data centres, but more about the South African data regions later this year.
So when you subscribe to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in South Africa you subscribe to a fully hosted and managed suite of interconnected business solutions, accessible anytime, anywhere from any device. If your device can access the internet, you can connect to Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Integration into other Microsoft Business Applications:

Imagine creating a sales order for your customer directly out of your inbox in Microsoft Outlook; Imagine customising reports using seamless Microsoft Excel integration; Imagine building custom workflows (no code required) unique to your business and integrating those workflows into your business data using Microsoft Flow; Imagine building a custom APP, again no coding required, and pulling data from Dynamics 365 Business Central into your unique APP…imagine no more!
